IFFA Frankfurt, international trade fair for meat processing, march 8th- 13th

2010, May 8^th - 13^th  the IFFA (www.iffa.com ) takes place in Frankfurt, Germany. IFFA is the leading international trade fair for processing, packaging and sales in the meat industry.

In case any machine vision supplier might still dream of new business in the food industry in general and in the meat industry specifically, this trade fair shows impressively that it is now time to wake up. Machine vision as well as robotics is already standard in many applications around meat processing and especially around meat packaging. The strong presence of ABB´s FlexPicker for fast applications, Fanuc´s 6- axis robots for handling and palletizing and Cognex´ vision systems shows which companies have invested in these markets already several years ago.

The machine vision applications shown at the trade fair have been fast pick & place, robot guidance in general for palletizing and bin picking, and different kinds of quality inspection such as seam inspection of packages, inspection of bins and of course inspection of finished products.

Summarized I can recommend this trade show for everybody who is interested in machine vision, especially OEM solutions, and who likes the smell of Bratwurst and smoked ham the whole day in his nose….
