- Martin Wäny received a diploma degree in microelectronics and physics at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland in 1997. In 1998 he worked in the CMOS image sensor group of IMEC, Leuven Belgium. In 1999 he joined the "Centre Suisse d'Electronique et Microtechnique" CSEM, as PHD student in the field of high performance digital image sensors in standard CMOS processes. In this field he holds several patents and patent applications. In 2000 he won the German Vision price for the invention of the LINLOGTM Technology and in 2001 the Photonics circle of excellence award of SPIE Photonics West conference. In 2001 he co-founded the Photonfocus AG, a spin off company of CSEM where he was a director and lead the CMOS Image sensor development group. In 2004 he founded AWAIBA Lda, a company specialized in high speed area scan and lien scan image sensors and minimal form factor image sensor for medical applications.
